Privacy policy

How we handle your data when you book a table, contact us or visit our website.

1. Who are we?

Yamas! Greek Restaurant, Dorpsstraat 14, 1796 BB De Koog (Texel, the Netherlands). Phone +31 222 315 697, email yamastexel@gmail.com. We are responsible for processing your personal data as described in this policy.

2. What data do we use and why?

Booking a table

When you book through our website, the booking app, the tablet in the restaurant, a QR code, by phone or via WhatsApp, we use your name, phone number, email address, and the date, time and number of guests. We also use what you enter yourself, such as an occasion, a high chair, a note or a bottle of wine ordered in advance. We use this to carry out and confirm your booking, to remind you the day before or on the day itself, to let you change or cancel your booking yourself, and to prepare for your evening. Legal basis: performing your booking (contract).

Allergies and dietary requirements

If you tell us about an allergy or dietary requirement, we only use that information to cook safely and suitably for you. We do this on the basis of your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Group requests

If you request a booking for a larger group, we use your details to contact you and arrange the booking.

Emails about your booking

We send you messages about your booking: a confirmation, a reminder and a message if it is changed or cancelled. The day after your visit we may send you one short email asking how it was (at most once every six months). We only use your answer to improve our service; if you ask us to, we will contact you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest. You can opt out with one click in the email.

News and seasonal emails

Only if you choose to (the “Keep me posted” box when booking, or the newsletter option in GoTable) will we occasionally send you an email, for example when we reopen or when Christmas holiday bookings open. For this we use your name, email address and language. Legal basis: your consent. We count whether the email is opened and whether the button is clicked, so we can see what interests you; we do not store email addresses for this. Every email contains an unsubscribe link; after that you will receive nothing more from us. We do not send you marketing unless you have asked for it.

Contact

If you contact us via WhatsApp, phone or email, we use your details to answer your question.

Visiting our website

We keep anonymous statistics on how our website is used, such as the number of visitors, pages viewed, country and type of device, and how often buttons are clicked. This happens on our own server, without cookies and without storing IP addresses. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving the website.

3. Who do we share your data with?

We never sell your data and do not use it for advertising. We do work with a few service providers who process data on our behalf:

  • GoTable – our booking system.
  • Google (Gmail) – for sending emails about your booking.
  • Pushover – to notify our team of new bookings on their phone. This service is based in the United States; transfers take place with appropriate safeguards.
  • Texel Hosting – hosting of our website, in the Netherlands.
  • Elfsight – the WhatsApp button on our website. If you contact us via WhatsApp, WhatsApp’s (Meta’s) privacy policy also applies.

If you click a directions button, Google Maps opens and Google’s privacy policy applies. Takeaway orders are placed through a separate ordering website with its own privacy policy.

4. How long do we keep your data?

We do not keep booking data longer than necessary: no more than two years after your last visit, unless the law requires us to keep it longer. We keep anonymous website statistics for no more than two years.

5. Cookies

Our own website does not place tracking or advertising cookies. Only functional cookies may be used, for example by the GoTable booking window or the WhatsApp button, so that they work properly.

6. Security

Our website uses a secure connection (https). Access to your data is limited to the people who need it for your booking.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict processing, to object, to data portability and to withdraw any consent you have given. To do so, email yamastexel@gmail.com; we will reply within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, such as the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens or the authority in your country of residence.

8. Changes

We may update this policy if the way we work changes. The latest version is always on this page.
